Meet Dr. Jeff Kordell, DVM
Dr. Jeff Kordell has had a passion for animals since he was a child. In first grade, he told his teacher that one day he would become a veterinarian. His passion for animals and interest in veterinary medicine grew, and he began working with amazing mentor veterinarians at the early age of 10 years old, which inspired his ambition to one day start his own practice.
He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree. While being a student at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, he was fortunate to be a part of an extensive study of hip-dysplasia leading to important and applicable revelations to nutrition and genetics. He began practicing companion animal medicine around the north shore and in 1997 opened Kordell Animal Medical Services, PC, a housecall practice. He realized another dream in 2005 when he designed, built, and opened the doors of Animal Medical Center at Fort Sheridan while continuing his housecall practice to serve his loyal and wonderful pet-owning clients. He values meeting all the wonderful pet owners over the years and their commitment to top notch veterinary care at Animal Medical Center at Fort Sheridan.
Dr. Kordell’s professional interests lie in general surgery, geriatric medicine, associated age-related orthopedic challenges, and working as a team with new pet owners to provide the best educational tools and customized care to raise healthy, happy pet-family members. He is also extremely thankful to have a supportive and dedicated family-oriented staff who make it enjoyable to come to work every day.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Kordell enjoys boating, fishing, gourmet cooking with friends and most of all spending time with his family including 15-year-old Morkie rescue, Peaches and 7-year-old Shichon rescue, Rufus.
