Meet Dr. Sam Stone, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Sam Stone grew up in the North Shore community, attending K-12 school in Highland Park, IL. From an early age, Sam was always around animals. His childhood dog, Louis, was a patient of Dr. Kordell’s, and Sam enjoyed taking Louis to AMCFS for regular health checks. One memorable experience was a fifth-grade field trip when Sam brought Louis to AMCFS, where Dr. Kordell demonstrated a canine physical exam for the entire class.
Animals have always been a big part of Dr. Stone’s life. For the past 20 years, his mother, Liz, has owned and operated a dog walking and cat sitting business, caring for many pets—some of whom are also patients at AMCFS!
Throughout middle and high school, Dr. Stone developed a strong interest in science, particularly chemistry and biology. His passion for animals, combined with his problem-solving skills and love of the natural sciences, helped him realize he wanted to become a doctor.
Dr. Stone graduated from Highland Park High School in 2017 and went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his B.S. in Biology, focusing on Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. Before graduating in the spring of 2021, Sam accepted his offer to attend veterinary school at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
Over the next four years, Sam dedicated himself to his studies and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in the spring of 2025. He has now returned to join the practice he grew up visiting with his beloved pets, bringing his passion, knowledge and compassionate care back to the community.
